HERO HARRIS READY FOR RETURN

Thursday April 29, 2021
BIRMINGHAM hero Chris Harris is counting the days to his long awaited Perry Barr return,

Harris played a major part in the club's successful 2013 season when they reached the Grand Final before missing out to Poole.

Now he's back for the Championship season and is relishing the prospect of being back in Brummies colours.

"It's getting closer now and it's a nice feeling to be back at Birmingham," he said.

"We had a good time there before and it's a great move for me because I can spend most of the day at home before heading to the stadium."

Harris, who pulled off one of the most memorable wins in Grand Prix history at Cardiff in 2007, has been back on a bike recently at Leicester.

"It's great to be back on the bike and I'm looking forward to the season starting with Birmingham," he said.

"I've been spending time at home with the family and it's been great, but being out and about at the weekend in the fresh air riding my bike has been great for me.

"The family are probably sick of me now so they're probably pleased I'm going out to race again!"
It's going to be a busy year for "˜Bomber' as he will also feature in the World Longtrack Championship at weekends.

"That's just how I like it," he said. "Hopefully I can stay busy and have a good year, that's the aim and I'll be doing everything I can to help Birmingham have a good season.

"The team looks good, the signing of Erik (Riss) was a great move by the management, I'm sure we'll be strong and push hard for those play-offs.

"I'm enthusiastic and after missing last year in terms of a full league season I just can't wait to get going and I'm looking forward to linking up with Laurence Rogers (Birmingham boss) again having worked with him before."

Birmingham's home season starts on Wednesday June 2 against Redcar but they start with a trip to Edinburgh on Friday May 21 followed by Berwick the following night.
