REACTION - PERRY BARR FAREWELL

Tuesday August 26, 2025
BIRMINGHAM CEO Nigel Tolley has thanked everyone for packing out Perry Barr Stadium as the club bid farewell to racing in the Second City on Monday.

A capacity crowd was present to watch the final laps around the famous venue on what was an emotional night for all involved.

Said Tolley: “It was great to see Perry Barr so busy - it just makes you wonder doesn’t it!

“I really am grateful for all the volunteers and everyone involved in Birmingham Speedway.

“We are a big family and I think that’s the best way of describing it.”

Unfortunately, it was another bitterly disappointing display that the home faithful had to endure as the Curtis Sport Brummies were easily beaten 58-32 by Midlands neighbours Leicester.

“Leicester were really tough opposition,” Tolley said.

“They’ve come on leaps and bounds and they fully deserved their victory.

“They outclassed us pretty much from start to finish and it goes without saying that it was nowhere near the final we result we wanted Brummies to have here at Perry Barr.

“I can only apologise for some of the performances this year, especially this one.”

The Brummies’ final fixture sees them travel to Leicester’s Hydroscand Arena this coming Thursday (August 28, 7.30pm).

BIRMINGHAM 32: Keynan Rew 8+2, Paco Castagna 8+1, Matej Zagar 7, Tobiasz Musielak 3, Jonas Jeppesen 3, Sam Hagon 2, Simon Lambert 1.
LEICESTER 58: Sam Masters 12+2, Ryan Douglas 10+1, Max Fricke 10+1, Luke Becker 8+1, Joe Thompson 7+1, Drew Kemp 6, Kyle Howarth 5+3.
