PREVIEW: BRUMMIES v LEICESTER

Sunday August 24, 2025
BIRMINGHAM stage their final ever meeting at Perry Barr Stadium on Monday (August 25, 7.30pm) with a ROWE Motor Oil Premiership clash against Leicester.

The modern era of the Brummies saw them return to racing in 2007 with the club then once again revived following closure part way through 2014.

They’ve been involved in British Speedway’s top-flight for the past two seasons, but with the Second City venue due to be demolished, Monday’s Midlands derby will see the final laps raced on what will be an emotional night all round.

“It’s going to be a very, very sad day on Monday,” Tolley said.

“I’m sorry we’re in this position because I know the Brummies means the world to a lot of people out there.

“There’s going to be people at a terrific loose end after Monday night and there’s going to be a lot of tears shed when we race Leicester.”

The Brummies will be hoping to cause an upset in their final home meeting against the Lions.

Whilst Birmingham have lost nine in a row, Leicester secured their play-off place last Monday with a home win over Ipswich, but did lose their last outing at Sheffield on Thursday.

Simon Lambert once again guests for the injured Ben Barker.

Following Heat 15 on Monday, Nigel Tolley will deliver a farewell speech before supporters are invited to walk the Perry Barr circuit for one final time.

Supporters have until Sunday night to pre-purchase tickets via https://www.trybooking.com/uk/events/landing/90940.

Admission will then also be able to be gained on the gate on the night.

Birmingham will also be staging their annual collection for the Speedway Riders’ Benevolent Fund.
