| | | BIRMINGHAM suffered their heaviest home defeat of the season as they were comfortably beaten 59-31 against Sheffield.
The Curtis Sport Brummies were outclassed from start to finish on another subdued night in the Second City.
The home riders were able to provide just two race winners around their own circuit with the better quality of the opposition clear for all to see.
Keynan Rew won Heat Three for the hosts, but with the visitors claiming four early advantages, Birmingham found themselves 22-8 down with just five races gone.
That deficit was increased to 22 points by the conclusion of Heat Eight before Jonas Jeppesen and Rew combined for the Brummies’ only heat advantage of the contest.
Birmingham struggled to get out of the starts as Sheffield continued to grow in confidence on another night to forget on home shale.
The penultimate Perry Barr meeting takes place next Monday (August 11, 7.30pm) when King’s Lynn are the visitors.
BIRMINGHAM 31: Tobiasz Musielak 7+1, Keynan Rew 7, Matej Zagar 6, Ben Barker 3+2, Paco Castagna 3+1, Jonas Jeppesen 3, Sam Hagon 2. SHEFFIELD 59: Josh Pickering 14, Jack Holder 12, Leon Flint 12, Chris Holder 7+1, Nick Morris 6+3, Anders Rowe 6+2, Will Cairns 2+1. Sheffield win the aggregate point
