SHEFFIELD 50 BRUMMIES 40

Thursday July 03, 2025
BIRMINGHAM produced a battling performance at Sheffield despite being on the wrong end of a 50-40 scoreline in South Yorkshire.

The Curtis Sport Brummies kept the Tigers on their toes and made them work hard to maintain their 100 per cent home league record, even with Keynan Rew missing through racing commitments in Poland.

It was a drastically improved display to the one served at Oxford seven days previous and the Brummies were visibly boosted by Monday’s home win over King’s Lynn.

The hosts won the coin toss and make gate selection count early on as they opened up an early six point lead.

But the Brummies landed their first race winner and heat advantage in the fifth with captain Tobiasz Musielak leading a 4-2 with Jonas Jeppesen in third.

Jeppesen’s next outing then saw him strongly block the run of Chris Holder on the opening lap of Heat Seven as he and Paco Castagna landed another 4-2.

Still six down going into Heat Nine, team manager Chris Adams played his tactical substitute and Musielak rewarded him with a race win with Matej Zagar beating Lewi Kerr for third as they moved to within four with a third 4-2 of the night.

Despite making some more fast starts, the hosts would claim the next five race winners with a 5-1 in Heat 14 confirming victory before Musielak took his third win of the night in Heat 15 to finish with 14+1.

The Brummies head to Belle Vue on Monday (July 7, 7.30pm) - a date where there is also action at Perry Barr as the Ductair Bulls take on Kent in the National Development Trophy,

SHEFFIELD 50: Chris Holder 16, Josh Pickering 14+1, Anders Rowe 9+1, Lewis Kerr 6+1, Will Cairns 3, Justin Sedgmen 2+1, Jack Holder r/r.
BIRMINGHAM 40: Tobiasz Musielak 14+1, Sam Hagon 8+1, Matej Zagar 7+1, Jonas Jeppesen 7+1, Ben Barker 2+2, Paco Castagna 2, Keynan Rew r/r.
