BRUMMIES 49 KING'S LYNN 41

Monday June 30, 2025
BIRMINGHAM delivered the desired response as they got back to winning ways with a 49-41 triumph over King’s Lynn at Perry Barr.

Following heavy defeats at Oxford last Thursday and last time out at home against Sheffield, Curtis Sport Brummies team manager Chris Adams demanded his riders ‘up their game’ against the Stars.

And collectively they delivered, dashing the Norfolk side’s play-off hopes in the process.

For just the second time this season on home shale, the Brummies got an advantage in the opener with captain Tobiasz Musielak and Paco Castagna gating their way to an early 5-1.

And they should’ve made it successive maximums in Heat Two but Rising Star Sam Hagon suffered bike issues whilst leading and was excluded from the re-run. King’s Lynn’s No.7 Luke Harrison took his first ever top-flight race win in that one whilst Ben Barker kept Grand Prix star Jan Kvech in third on his latest home debut for the club.

The hosts did quickly find another 5-1 though, this time with Jonas Jeppesen and Keynan Rew outgating their opponents to move six ahead.

Rew kept his unbeaten start going in Heat Five in a second 3-3 with the previous race won by King’s Lynn captain Nicolai Klindt.

The Dane also took another victory for the Stars in Heat Six, this time with Musielak splitting the visiting duo as they moved back to within four.

And King’s Lynn looked set to level in Heat Seven as Chris Harris and Ben Cook sat on a 5-1, but the latter slowed up at the end of lap three after aggravating a wrist injury which would rule him out of the remainder of the contest.

The action continued though and Matej Zagar worked his way under Harris off bend two on lap four, only for the Lynn man to cut back on the final bend and claim a thrilling win on the run to the line.

The visitors moved to within two with a 4-2 in Heat Eight before Klindt made it three from three in a shared Heat Nine which also saw Kvech then withdrawn after aggravating an existing shoulder problem.

Musielak then picked up his second race win of the night in the tenth before King’s Lynn levelled with a 4-2 in Heat 11.

Jeppesen claimed another impressive win in Heat 12 before Musielak then commanded Heat 13.

But with the visitors only able to track one rider in the penultimate race, the Brummies took full advantage with Rew and Barker easing to a 5-1 over youngster Harrison.

And the Brummies wrapped up victory in fine style with Rew and Musielak again flying out of the traps - and ending in a score which only saw the Brummies miss out on the aggregate point 90-89.

Chris Adams’ side will now aim to take some belief from this fixture into Thursday’s (July 3, 7.30pm) trip to Sheffield.
