REACTION - BRUMMIES 47 BELLE VUE 43

Tuesday June 03, 2025
BIRMINGHAM boss Chris Adams hailed his team’s togetherness as they beat reigning ROWE Motor Oil Premiership champions Belle Vue 47-43 at Perry Barr on Monday.

It means after going two months without a single piece of joy, the Curtis Sport Brummies have now picked up two league wins in the space of a week following their first success at Leicester seven days previous.

The hosts provided just six race winners against the joint league leaders but managed five heat advantages, including big 5-1s in Heats 12 and 15, the latter of which saw the Aces’ Grand Prix star Dan Bewley handed a 15 metre handicap in the restart after touching the tapes in the initial attempt of the last heat decider.

It was Matej Zagar and Tobiasz Musielak who held their nerve as the heat-leader pair both contributed double figures.

Rising Star Jason Edwards was also in paid double figures after scoring in each of his rides, on what was easily his finest display of the season, whilst reserve partner Jonas Jeppesen was in the thick of the action all night long as they outscored their Belle Vue counterparts 14-4.

Paco Castagna plugged away to score six whilst Keynan Rew managed two vital points from three outings despite struggling with a foot injury.

Said Adams: “We’re on a roll aren’t we!

“In all seriousness though, all the lads pulled together as a five man team really with Keynan and his injuries and already using R/R at No.1.

“We didn’t have too many race winners but we did enough to get there in the end.

“Tensions got a bit high but we stayed focussed and got the job done.

“I’m so glad the home fans got to see us get a home win because they’ve been waiting such a long time.

“They come out every week supporting us so it was good for us to give them something back and something for them to cheer about.”

The Brummies head to Manchester for the return against the Aces at the National Speedway Stadium tonight (Thursday, June 5, 7.30pm).
