| | BIRMINGHAM stage their first ROWE Motor Oil Premiership fixture of the year on Monday (April 7, 7.30pm) with Ipswich the visitors to Perry Barr.
The Curtis Sport Brummies were comfortably beaten in their league opener at Sheffield on Thursday and are hoping to turn things around against the Witches - the team they got the better of twice in the final week of last season.
But with the Suffolk side being heavily tipped as favourites this term, the Brummies will need to produce a much improved performance.
Australian racer Keynan Rew, who signed from Ipswich over the winter, feels he and his team-mates have already learnt plenty this season, particularly after their home opener in the cup against Leicester.
“It was definitely a tough meeting, I’m not going to hide that fact,” Rew said.
“We all struggled and we just simply weren’t making starts, it’s pretty simple - and it’s hard to win races around here when you’re not making starts.
“I think I’ve come to a few conclusions so hopefully I can factor that in for the next home meeting and I’ll be ready to go.”
Ipswich head to Perry Barr with a power packed side including spectacular racer Emil Sayfutdinov and four former Brummies in Jason Doyle, Tom Brennan, Adam Ellis and Danny King.
There are also nine second half races scheduled to follow the main event.
