PREVIEW: SHEFFIELD v BRUMMIES

Wednesday April 02, 2025
BIRMINGHAM travel to Sheffield on Thursday (April 3, 7.30pm) for their first league fixture of the season.

After being well beaten on home shale on opening night, the Curtis Sport Brummies produced a much more encouraging display at Leicester last week in the Knockout Cup where they almost grabbed a second leg win against last year’s Premiership runners-up.

It was a performance which has boosted the Brummies as they prepare to make the trip to South Yorkshire.

And team manager Chris Adams is backing his boys to run Sheffield close.

“I’m really looking forward to our first league match,” he said.

“We still haven’t hit form yet but I think we saw at Leicester what we are going to be capable of if our heat-leaders are scoring.

“We are still gelling as a team but I can’t praise or commend the riders enough for their efforts and their work ethic towards Birmingham so far.

“We’ve got a couple of ex-Sheffield riders, we’ve got a team who relish the big tracks so while it will be a tough match, I’m hoping we can come away with something.”

Captain Tobiasz Musielak and Rising Star Jason Edwards return to their former top-flight home track whilst Sheffield include former Birmingham riders Danyon Hume and Leon Flint at reserve.

Sheffield will run Rider Replacement for Tai Woffinden who remains in hospital having crashed out of a challenge fixture in Poland at the weekend.

SHEFFIELD: Jack Holder, Anders Rowe, Josh Pickering, Tai Woffinden R/R, Chris Holder, Danyon Hume, Leon Flint.
BIRMINGHAM: Tobiasz Musielak, Jonas Jeppesen, Michael Jepsen Jensen, Keynan Rew, Matej Zagar, Antti Vuolas, Jason Edwards.
