JEPSEN JENSEN IN AT BRUM

Wednesday January 15, 2025
FORMER World Cup winner Michael Jepsen Jensen is making a return to British Speedway with Birmingham.

Having previously represented Peterborough and Coventry, the former World Under-21 Champion is on his way back to race in the UK after signing a deal to represent the Brummies.

Jepsen Jensen, who turns 33 next month, is a former Grand Prix winner who has continued to play his part in team successes on the continent.

He’s won the league in Sweden and in Poland, the country where he was in the top 10 of the Ekstraliga averages when he joined Grudziadz last season, and he also top scored for Slangerup as he lifted the trophy back home in Denmark last year.

Birmingham CEO Nigel Tolley said: “As we’ve made public knowledge recently, as a management team, we were very keen to do everything we could to add a genuine, quality heat-leader to our starting line-up.

“We looked far and wide, drew up a shortlist and following a combination of things, we whittled the list down bit-by-bit.

“We’re delighted to have Michael as a Birmingham rider and again, we feel he will compliment the rest of our team well.

“Anyone who has seen him at any point during his career will know what a real talent he is and whilst it has been a while since he raced in the UK, we know what he is capable of.

“Speaking to him throughout the negotiations, you can really sense his hunger and he has some really big aspirations for 2025.

“We’re looking forward to seeing how he settles in at Perry Barr and he’s someone who has got what it takes to push to be a No.1 in this league.

“We now know what avenue we want to go down to complete our starting 1-7 and hopefully we’ll be able to finalise that in the coming days.”
