MONDAY PREVIEW: BRUMMIES v IPSWICH

Sunday August 25, 2024
BIRMINGHAM stage their final home league fixture of the season with Ipswich the visitors to Perry Barr on Monday (August 26, 7.30pm).

The Curtis Sport Brummies have enjoyed rare success against the Witches already this term - and will be desperately hoping they can do so again on Monday having lost their last 14 outings in all competitions.

Their previous league clash saw them win 49-41 in the Second City in a contest they also snatched the aggregate point in a dramatic Super Heat.

Since then, the Witches eliminated the Brummies from the Knockout Cup but have endured a torrid run of injuries in recent weeks and will travel back to Perry Barr without three of their top riders.

Jason Doyle, Emil Sayfutdinov and Adam Ellis all remain out so Ryan Douglas, Sam Masters and former Brummie Troy Batchelor deputise for the visitors.

Meanwhile, Birmingham have been granted a facility to cover Piotr Pawlicki after he informed the club he felt he couldn’t be a part of their final two league meetings. Club bosses have opted to run Rider Replacement at No.2.

Tom Brennan has been the Brummies’ top points scorer this year and he hopes the team can go out on a more positive note in front of their home supporters.

“It’s been such a huge shame for the club but you can clearly see the amount of effort going into this,” Brennan said.

“We all know how to ride a bike and we all obviously know how to ride a bike at a very high level - but unfortunately we seem to fire at different stages.

“Everyone is trying really hard and all we can do is try and finish as strong as we can.”

Whilst supporters can pay on the night trackside, tickets are also available to purchase online in advance for £23 adults, £20 concessions (with proof) and £10 students (with proof) - children under 16 are admitted free of charge!
Brand new racenight ‘VIP Gold Tickets’ are also available for £39 - this includes a raceday programme, a pre-meeting pits visit, a centre green experience as well as use of the executive boxes upstairs in the main grandstand.
All tickets can be secured via: https://www.trybooking.com/uk/events/landing/65695?

Whilst the VIP car-park, which has been accommodating some season ticket holders and blue badge holders in previous years, is now used for sponsors, staff and second half riders, there are a limited number of spaces in the main car park in line with the glass entrance at the front of the stadium. Please note these are taken on a first come, first served basis.
Additional parking is available in Holford Drive (in front of Prince Albert High School), postcode B42 2TU, which is less than 5 minutes walk to the stadium entrance.
