| | WEST Midlands speedway clubs will reunite in the final action of the season at Perry Barr as Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Cradley and Coventry do battle in a special four-team tournament for the Alan Grahame Memorial Trophy on Monday, September 9 (7.30pm).
The last meeting of 2024 will adopt a format with the main event consisting of 16 heats with a possible Midland Development League title decider between Birmingham’s two amateur sides as well as upright machine ‘Men in Black’ races.
CEO Nigel Tolley said: “We wanted to do something a bit different for the supporters for the final meeting of the year.
“Along with our hardcore Brummies followers, we’ve been very fortunate to be joined by a good number of other West Midlands based speedway fans on a regular basis who, sadly, don’t have a team of their own to support at this moment in time.
“So we wanted to put on a show for all Midlands fans and give them a team of their own to cheer on for one night and that’s why we’re running this four-team tournament.
“The teams will be built around Championship level and we’re working hard on getting them as finely balanced as we possibly can to try and get a close-run contest.”
Special sponsorships for each team will be available with details to follow, but anyone who would like to show an early interest should e-mail: laurencerogers@birmingham-speedway.com.
Birmingham Speedway Season Ticket holders will be able to get into this meeting for just £15 with general admission set at £20 adults, £18 concessions, £10 students while all Under-16s will get in for free. VIP Gold tickets will again be available for £39.
In the meantime, the Curtis Sport Brummies stage their final home league fixture of the year this Bank Holiday Monday (August 26, 7.30pm) against Ipswich before hosting a round of the British Youth Championships on Monday (September 2, 7.30pm).
