THURSDAY PREVIEW: SHEFFIELD v BRUMMIES

Wednesday August 14, 2024
BIRMINGHAM are looking to build on recent improvements when they travel to champions Sheffield on Thursday (August 15, 7.30pm).

The Curtis Sport Brummies may be on a 12 match losing streak - but five of their last six defeats have been by six points or less.

Four of those head-to-heads has seen the Perry Barr outfit take things to a last heat decider - something also experienced by Sheffield in their last two home meetings.

Leon Flint feels all the expectations will lie with the hosts, who could secure their place in the play-offs on Thursday, but the Rising Star admits he and his team-mates are heading to South Yorkshire with a building belief.

“The pressure is on them to beat us,” Flint said.

“They’re up there in the league and we’re not.

“We’ve just been struggling to all score points on the same night but we’re getting closer and we’re staying positive.

“All the boys do enjoy it there so we’ll go there with confidence and see what we can do.”

Rider Replacement will again operate for Piotr Pawlicki, who remains ruled out through illness, whilst Sheffield will also run R/R for the injured Tai Woffinden.

SHEFFIELD: Jack Holder, Kyle Howarth, Chris Holder, Josh Pickering, Tai Woffinden R/R, Jason Edwards, Dan Gilkes.
BIRMINGHAM: Freddie Lindgren, Piotr Pawlicki R/R, Wiktor Lampart, Zach Cook, Tom Brennan, Michael Palm Toft, Leon Flint.
