| | BIRMINGHAM are back on home shale on Monday (July 29, 7.30pm) against Belle Vue – one of the sides they have already managed to beat at Perry Barr this season.
It will be exactly three months to the day since the Curtis Sport Brummies got the better of the 2022 league champions in a pulsating ROWE Motor Oil Premiership encounter.
And now they’ll be hoping for a similar outcome this time around as they look to end a run of seven straight defeats.
The Second City side can take encouragement from a much-improved display which saw them just miss out in a last heat decider against defending champions Sheffield last Monday.
And whilst he refuses to describe it as a must win fixture, team manager Sam Ermolenko is backing his riders to deliver more plus points against the Aces which will hopefully see them over the line.
“Let’s just say I saw more good things against Sheffield,” he said.
“As I’ve said before, it’s been hard to get consistency in many different areas but we’re getting there.
“We’re still working on it, but when everything does all click on the same night, we’re going to have a really good night.
“Belle Vue have got a solid team but I’m looking forward to seeing how we go.”
In a big boost for the Brummies, and something which has been quite the rarity this term, they will be at full strength for the visit of the Aces.
Zach Cook has been signed as an injury replacement for Justin Sedgmen and whilst Piotr Pawlicki missed last Monday’s meeting with a hand injury, he received extensive treatment throughout the week which led to him being able to race twice over the weekend and he will now line-up for his final meeting in the reserve berths before the averages change on Thursday.
Belle Vue will operate Rider Replacement for British Champion Dan Bewley, who is ruled out with concussion following a spill at Leicester last Thursday, whilst the visitors include Antti Vuolas and Jake Mulford at reserve with the pair now officially appearing in the latest set of greensheet averages for the Aces.
There is also bonus second half action for supporters on Monday as the Birmingham Ductair Bulls take on the Leicester Lion Cubs over six heats with three mascot demonstration races in addition. Whilst supporters can pay on the night trackside, tickets are also available to purchase online in advance for £23 adults, £20 concessions (with proof) and £10 students (with proof) - children under 16 are admitted free of charge!
Brand new racenight ‘VIP Gold Tickets’ are also available for £39 - this includes a raceday programme, a pre-meeting pits visit, a centre green experience as well as use of the executive boxes upstairs in the main grandstand . All tickets can be secured via: https://www.trybooking.com/uk/events/landing/64085? Whilst the VIP car-park, which has been accommodating some season ticket holders and blue badge holders in previous years, is now used for sponsors, staff and second half riders, there are a limited number of spaces in the main car park in line with the glass entrance at the front of the stadium. Please note these are taken on a first come, first served basis. Additional parking is available in Holford Drive (in front of Prince Albert High School), postcode B42 2TU, which is less than 5 minutes walk to the stadium entrance. BIRMINGHAM: Freddie Lindgren, Michael Palm Toft, Wiktor Lampart, Zach Cook, Tom Brennan, Piotr Pawlicki, Leon Flint. BELLE VUE: Brady Kurtz, Norick Blodorn, Dan Bewley R/R, Ben Cook, Jaimon Lidsey, Antti Vuolas, Jake Mulford.
