ZACH Cook has been recalled by Birmingham on a short-term deal.
The Aussie was the man released by the Curtis Sport Brummies last month to accommodate the signing of Swedish superstar Freddie Lindgren.
But after giving club bosses plenty of food for thought when he scored ten points, winning his final three rides in Monday’s defeat against champions Sheffield, they have now re-signed Cook as an injury replacement for Justin Sedgmen.
CEO Nigel Tolley said: “Zach was very unfortunate to be the rider we let go to bring in Freddie - but as I said at the time, it would’ve been harsh on whoever we would’ve released but we just couldn’t pass the opportunity by to bring in someone of Freddie’s calibre and stature.
“But fair play to Zach, he could’ve turned us down when we asked him to guest on Monday, but he didn’t and he rode superbly.
“With Sedgy looking like he’ll be out for at least three weeks and with us approaching a run of nine quickfire fixtures, we needed an injury replacement.
“So after Zach rode the way he did on Monday, we pulled him straight into the office and asked him if he’d like a place back in the Brummies’ team.
“I totally understand why he needed a couple of days to consider his decision, but we’re delighted he’s agreed to come back into our line-up and we’re looking forward to seeing what he can do over the course of these next few weeks.”
Birmingham are back on home shale this coming Monday (July 29, 7.30pm) when they take on Belle Vue at Perry Barr.
