| | FREDDIE Lindgren will finally make his eagerly anticipated Birmingham debut in their Knockout Cup Semi-Final decider at Ipswich on Thursday (June 6, 7.30pm).
The Swede was forced to miss Monday’s first leg, due to visa issues, a fixture which saw the Curtis Sport Brummies lose 46-44 after letting an eight point lead slip.
Since then though, the necessary permissions have been granted and last year’s World Championship runner-up will come into the side in place of unlucky Australian racer Zach Cook.
Ahead of his first competitive meeting back in British Speedway in nearly seven years, Lindgren said: “I’m really looking forward to it.
“It is going to be a big challenge for me because the Premiership has grown stronger and stronger the last couple of years.
“Right now I would say it is a very, very tough league to race in with a lot of top names and that’s all exciting.
“You have to be performing well to score points here and with the variety of tracks and the shale in the UK, it’s always challenging.
“It was good to meet everyone on Monday and hopefully I can fit into the team pretty easily and I hope we can have a good time together.”
Birmingham skipper Steve Worrall is again forced out through illness (labyrinthitis) and after assessing potential guest options available to them, club bosses have opted to use rider replacement at No.2.
Meanwhile, Ipswich welcome former Brummie Adam Ellis back into their side following a recently dislocated shoulder. They also bring Chris Harris and Sam Masters in as guests with Freddy Hodder named as their No.8.
IPSWICH: Chris Harris, Dan Thompson R/R, Sam Masters, Adam Ellis, Emil Sayfutdinov, Keynan Rew, Jordan Jenkins. BIRMINGHAM: Freddie Lindgren, Steve Worrall R/R, Wiktor Lampart, Justin Sedgmen, Tom Brennan, Piotr Pawlicki, Leon Flint.
