| | BIRMINGHAM were comfortably beaten 57-33 at Belle Vue on Monday in their biggest defeat of the season so far.
The Curtis Sport Brummies did, however, make a bright start and kicked off with successive 4-2s with Steve Worrall and Vaclav Milik taking the chequered flag.
But the hosts soon clicked into gear and were leading 24-18 by the time the Brummies’ next winner came courtesy of Leon Flint in Heat Eight.
The tactical substitute move didn’t pay off in the ninth when Piotr Pawlicki was 5-1d with the fixture quickly getting away from Birmingham.
Tom Brennan would be their only other race winner in Heat 13 as he denied Grand Prix star Dan Bewley a paid maximum in what was another frustrating and disappointing display from the Brummies.
Reaction from team manager Sam Ermolenko will be available on Tuesday morning.
Next up for the Curtis Sport Brummies it’s a home clash against King’s Lynn at Perry Barr next Monday (May 13, 7.30).
BELLE VUE 57: Jaimon Lidsey 13+2, Dan Bewley 13+1, Brady Kurtz 10, Ben Cook 9+1, Connor Mountain 6+1, Norick Blodorn 4, Connor Bailey 2+1. BIRMINGHAM 33: Tom Brennan 7+1, Leon Flint 7, Wiktor Lampart 6, Vaclav Milik 5, Piotr Pawlicki 4, Steve Worrall 4, Zach Cook R/R. Belle Vue win the aggregate point 100-80.
