| | A SECOND half struggle saw Birmingham slip to a 49-41 defeat at King’s Lynn on Thursday.
The Curtis Sport Brummies were leading by two points after nine races, but they conceded five heat advantages in the last six as they left Norfolk empty handed.
It was still an admirable effort from the Perry Barr outfit though, especially considering two of their European talents failed to score a point between them.
Piotr Pawlicki fell twice before coming last in Heat 11 whilst Vaclav Milik was collected by home No.1 Tobiasz Musielak in his second outing.
The Czech felt some discomfort around the hip area and withdrew from the rest of the meeting - but there are thought to be no long-lasting effects.
Elsewhere though there were plus points from the remaining riders; Tom Brennan’s excellent form continued as he dropped just one point to an opponent from five rides whilst skipper Steve Worrall returned to double figures.
Rising Star Leon Flint became a busy man following Milik’s withdrawal and also managed paid double figures from his full quota of seven rides.
Wiktor Lampart again came up with another race victory on his way to six points whilst an up and down night for Zach Cook in the main body of the team did see him pick up a paid victory in his opener.
The Brummies now turn their attentions to a Bank Holiday Monday (May 6, 12 noon) trip to Belle Vue where they lead 47-43 in their ROWE Motor Oil Premiership R1 fixture.
KING’S LYNN 49: Patryk Wojdylo 17+1, Niels-Kristian Iversen 11, Nicolai Klindt 7+1, Michael Palm Toft 5+1, Benjamin Basso 5+1, Anders Rowe 3+1, Tobiasz Musielak 1. BIRMINGHAM 41: Tom Brennan 13+1, Steve Worrall 10, Leon Flint 8+2, Wiktor Lampart 6, Zach Cook 4+1, Piotr Pawlicki 0, Vaclav Milik 0.
