BIRMINGHAM’S play-off fate will be decided when they head to Edinburgh in the Cab Direct Championship tonight (Friday, September 8).

The fixture is part of a double-header at Armadale which first sees the Monarchs host Plymouth.

In an ideal world, the Curtis Sport Brummies could do with the South West outfit beating the Scotsmen, that would leave Birmingham needing a win themselves over the Monarchs to secure a top six finish.

However, should Edinburgh win that first fixture, it still wouldn’t be all over for the Brummies, but would leave them with a mountain to climb.

It would mean they’d need to beat the Monarchs by 19 points or more to take all on offer and narrowly finish above them in the final standings.

Birmingham team boss Stewart Dickson said: “It’s a very big night for us up in Scotland.

“Hopefully Plymouth can soften them up a wee bit and steal something there and then when we get on track it’s all to play for – a couple of weeks ago, that wasn’t looking like it was going to be the case.

“So we’re going up there with the mindset that regardless of whatever happens in Edinburgh’s meeting with Plymouth, that we need to attack them from the off and put in our biggest performance of the season.”

Brummies have booked Kyle Howarth to guest at No.1.

EDINBURGH: Richard Lawson, Lasse Fredriksen, Kye Thomson, Paco Castagna, Josh Pickering, Luke Killeen, Bastian Borke.
BIRMINGHAM: Kyle Howarth, Alfie Bowtell, Troy Batchelor, Paul Starke, Justin Sedgmen, Stefan Nielsen, Sam Hagon.
