| | BIRMINGHAM boss Laurence Rogers says he was "˜immensely proud' of his depleted side - despite a heavy 59-31 defeat at Poole on Friday.
The Curtis Sport Brummies made the trip to Dorset with just one of their own riders and included three guests who only ply their trade in the National Development League.
But they all dug deep to surpass many people's expectations against a powerhouse Poole side.
The Perry Barr outfit kept things close in the early stages, with wins from regular Brummie Justin Sedgmen and guest Paul Starke helping keep the score at 16-14 after five races.
But the hosts then began to show their dominance winning all of the last ten races.
Boss Rogers said: "Our makeshift, injury-hit Brummies team made us immensely proud at Poole with a real battling performance.
"A big thank you to all of the boys and a big thank you to our loyal supporters who made the long trip to Wimborne Road as well!"
POOLE 59: Ben Cook 13+2, Danny King 13+1, Richard Lawson 13+1, Steve Worrall 11+1, Zach Cook 8+2, Connor Coles 1+1, Drew Kemp R/R.
BIRMINGHAM 31: Justin Sedgmen 10, Paul Starke 9+1, Lee Complin 9, Ben Morley 3+2, Danno Verge 0, Tom Woolley 0, Josh Auty R/R.
