| | BIRMINGHAM'S injury crisis heightened on another bruising night against Poole.
The Curtis Sport Brummies were reduced to just five riders as they lost 56-34 at home to Poole in the Championship Jubilee League.
Already without Josh Auty and James Shanes through injury, and Claus Vissing serving a 28-day ban, Brummies then lost skipper Ashley Morris to a shoulder injury before Stefan Nielsen crashed out, feeling second hand from facial and neck injuries.
On what was already going to be a big ask against a powerhouse Poole side, it sadly turned into a no contest as the visitors eased to victory.
The hosts were able to record just one race win courtesy of Justin Sedgmen in Heat Seven - whilst top scoring guest reserve Jason Edwards was robbed of a fully deserved triumph over Pirates No.1 Steve Worrall in Heat 11 when SCB Referee Mick Bates failed to award the initial staging, despite the red lights coming on for a stricken Drew Kemp as the riders entered the final lap.
It was a night to forget all round for the Brummies and team boss Laurence Rogers was again left bemoaning his side's fortunes.
"How many times have we said it this season, if we didn't have bad luck we wouldn't have any luck at all," he said.
"We've been left with bruises on riders and bruises on confidence after that.
"Even Neil Middleditch (Poole team manager) and Danny Ford (Poole promoter) came and said at the end that they obviously wanted to beat us, but not in this manner.
"It leaves us with a very strange feeling I know that one and we'll see how Ash and Stef are feeling tomorrow."
The two will assess themselves ahead of Friday's (July 29, 7.30) trip to Dorset - where team boss Rogers is facing a major selection headache.
