SCUNTHORPE 54 BRUMMIES 36

BIRMINGHAM's wait for a league point goes on after suffering a 54-36 defeat at Scunthorpe on Friday.

The Curtis Sport Brummies may have been without former Eddie Wright Raceway expert Josh Auty through injury, but they still managed seven race winners.

However, it was the minor placings they struggled with as they managed just three heat advantages.

Team manager Laurence Rogers said: "When we got the 4-2 in Heat 11, I thought we were on for a league point.

"But we fell apart in those last few races and we conceded three 5-1s out the last four.

"There were some plusses that I'd like to focus on and I think we just need to find a bit more consistency as a team and I'm sure that's not far away."

Top two Claus Vissing and Adam Ellis both reached double figures despite enduring frustrating outings along the way.

James Shanes contributed a solid seven-points while there was something to take down from reserve for teenager James Pearson who claimed his first ever race win in British Speedway.

Captain Ashley Morris experienced a tougher night than expected while Stefan Nielsen had a night to forget from the No.6 berth.

The Curtis Sport Brummies now prepare for another tough trip this Wednesday (April 27) as they head to reigning Champions Poole.
