POPULAR young Brit Leon Flint is back in Birmingham colours for one night only when they head to Newcastle in a key Championship clash tonight (6.30).

The talented teen was handed his first ever team spot by the Brummies in 2018 - and he has developed at an impressive rate ever since.

Not only has he bagged himself a top division role with Wolverhampton this season, he's also represented Great Britain on the international stage on a regular basis.

And Flint has highlighted how his time with the Perry Barr outfit has helped get him to where he is today.

"I wouldn't be here where I find myself if it wasn't for that first year with Birmingham," Flint said.

"Honestly it was just the perfect club for me to have my first ever proper year with and it was such a massive learning curve.

"Birmingham has got such a big place in my heart and I don't think I'll ever forget it.

"The fans are amazing, they showed me plenty of love and still do now to be fair and everyone at the club is always so welcoming.

"It will be nice to ride for the Brummies again and it's obviously a big meeting for them too so hopefully I can score some points and help them get a result."

The Brummies need eight league points from their final three league fixtures to guarantee themselves a play-off place.

They head to Newcastle without James Shanes (fractured wrist) and Jack Thomas (trapped neck nerve) as well as Paco Castagna and Valentin Grobauer (international duty).

Those riders, minus Shanes, are expected to be back for Wednesday's final home regular league fixture of the season against the Diamonds at Perry Barr this Wednesday (September 22, 7.30).
