BIRMINGHAM boss Laurence Rogers has described tomorrow’s crunch Perry Barr clash with Redcar as ‘must win’.

The two-points gained from their controversial draw at Edinburgh on Friday boosted their hopes of grabbing a top six spot and reaching the play-offs.

But to realise their goal they cannot afford to slip up at home and Redcar have plenty of experience in their side.

“We fancy our chances of a late run up the rails to bag a top six finish,” he said. “Then when it comes to play-offs the pressure is on but if we can make it we’ll be underdogs so we wouldn’t feel it.

“But we have to get there first and we can’t afford to slip up at home which makes the Redcar meeting massive for us.

“They have a strong side so we know we’ve got a tough task ahead with former British Champion Charles Wright and they’ve just added Lewis Kerr following Eastbourne’s withdrawal from the league.

“Michael Palm Toft has vast experience of the professional tracks in British Speedway and Jake Allen can be a match winner on his day.

“It means we will need to be on our toes and we have to be at it from the start with no silly errors.”

Rogers also says the fans can make a big difference.

“Since we’ve been getting more fans at Perry Barr the team have noticed it in a massive way,” he said. “The fans can be like an extra team member for us and it creates a great atmosphere so I hope we see more of the same tomorrow.

“It should be a great night of racing and we look forward to welcoming plenty of supporters to back the boys.”
