SPEEDWAY finally returns to Perry Barr on Wednesday as Birmingham relaunch their home season.

And boss Laurence Rogers is predicting a tough battle with Scunthorpe who have recently added former Brummies favourite Adam Ellis to their side as a replacement for Josh Auty.

And Birmingham have brought in in-form Eastbourne man Richard Lawson to cover for injured German racer Erik Riss. Kyle Newman, a former Perry Barr favourite, will deputise for Valentin Grobauer.

The team returned to action at Redcar on Friday and gave a solid performance in a 48-42 defeat.
Rogers said: “Reflecting on that meeting it was so good to have the team back on track racing again.

“But now all our focus is on a big night on Wednesday and the return of speedway to Perry Barr.

“It’s vital that the people of Birmingham show their support, we want a good atmosphere and a nice home win.

“The Scorpions have surprised a fair few teams already this season and have strengthened up in recent weeks.

"They've got a number of former Brummies in their line-up who all ride Perry Barr really well in Adam Ellis, Tero Aarnio and Simon Lambert and in young Jordan Palin down at reserve they've got one of the most exciting, young British talents around at the moment.

"It's going to be a tough one for the boys but they all can't wait to get back in front of the home supporters and they're desperate to mark the return with a win."
