BIRMINGHAM newcomer Jack Thomas is ready to turn on the style in front of his new home fans on Wednesday (7.30).

Speedway racing returns to Perry Barr as the Edwards Plumbing Brummies host Redcar in the first leg of their Knockout Cup clash with the return at Teesside on Friday.

The Norfolk born rider enjoyed two race wins in last weekend’s victory over Berwick despite it being almost two years since he last raced competitively in British league Speedway.

And now he’s keen to build on that performance.

“I wasn’t really expecting a first meeting back like I had to be honest,” Thomas said.

“I was a bit nervous to start with as it was my first one back in quite a while.

“When I got that first win out the way though I felt confident enough to keep pushing and try and get another one.

“I managed to do that as well and to come home on the back of another race win left me feeling good and wanting more.

“It was such a satisfying feeling that I haven’t had for a while and it was just what I needed.

“Coming to Birmingham is a fresh start for me and I already feel pretty settled in.

“All the lads are bouncing off each other and having a good laugh already so I can’t wait to race with them all in front of the Birmingham fans for the first time.”

Supporters are urged to book their tickets in advance via which also allows them to choose their preferred viewing zone under the current Covid-19 restrictions.

But with thanks to Birmingham City Council, a limited number of walk-up sales on racenight will now also be available.

This will enable any supporter without a pre-paid ticket the opportunity to gain admission to a designated zone within the stadium.
