BRUMMIES BOSS - IT’S NOT OVER YET!

Friday September 10, 2021
BIRMINGHAM boss Laurence Rogers insists his fired up side can still turn their Knockout Cup tie with Edinburgh around - despite the 54-36 defeat in Scotland.

Chris Harris top scored with 11 and Ashley Morris rode well for his 8+1 score but the absence of in-form reserves Jack Thomas and Paco Castagna proved costly.

And the rider replacement facility for Valentin Grobauer added pressure to the depleted Brummies side who had gone close to winning at Armadale on their last visit two weeks ago.

Said Rogers: “The boys battled hard but without on form reserves Castagna and Thomas we fell short of what could have been.

“That said, credit to Luke Crang and Jason Edwards, they gave it a go and I thank them for their hard work.

“Admittedly 18 points is a lot to pull back but it’s not over until the fat lady sings and we’ll give it our all in the return leg at the end of the month.”

The sides meet again this Wednesday at Perry Barr but this time in Championship action with Castagna and Thomas returning for that one.

It’s a vital meeting for the Brummies to win to keep alive their hopes of pinching a play-off spot.
