BIRMINGHAM co-owner David Mason reckons it's important to stay optimistic regarding the 2021 British Speedway season.

It comes as club bosses from the top two divisions prepare for their virtual, online AGM on Thursday (January 14).

The Premiership has already seen its numbers reduced following the early withdrawal of reigning Champions Swindon - but the Brummies' Championship league is looking much healthier heading into the crunch talks.

"There's no doubt about it that a lot of it is out of our hands to a large extent," Mason said.

"But as a club and as a league we have to make sure we have a Plan A, Plan B, Plan C etc in place so that we're prepared to get up and running as soon as it's safe for everyone to do so.

"I do think it's important to give everyone something to look forward to and if we all work together then I don't see any reason why we can't see some form of season and racing in 2021."
