CHRIS Harris is hunting down a fourth British title on Saturday – and the Brummies man insists the time is right.
Harris, who rejoined the Perry Barr club last winter, takes his place at former club Ipswich’s Foxhall Stadium in the prestigious British Final behind closed doors.
Fans can watch the event via a live stream after the government scrapped plans for pilot events to bring crowds back. That meant a sold out crowd had to be refunded and left disappointed.
The meeting also features former Brummies favourites Danny King, Josh Auty, Ben Barker, Edward Kennett and Paul Starke.
Said Harris: “I’d love to win another title. My last one was 2010 and it’s a long time ago so it would be great to add a fourth to my CV.
“It’s nice for Ipswich to have this meeting. I didn’t have the best of seasons riding for Ipswich last year but I’ve had some good meetings around Foxhall and I’m confident of doing well.
“It’s a big shame guys like Robert Lambert and Craig Cook aren’t doing the meeting but it’s the way of the world right now.
“I’m not sure about having Jason Crump in it, yes he’s a legend of the sport which is great but he’s represented Australia all his career. Rory Schlein has also represented Australia, so I guess we’ll just have to go out there and beat the Aussie boys to win the title!
“Don’t get me wrong, Jason and Rory are great riders and add quality to the meeting, so let’s see what we can do!”
Harris is delighted to take his place after a dramatic change of plan.
He said: “When they first said the meeting was on Saturday I was gutted because it was the same day as the longtrack. It was disappointing.
“Thankfully the longtrack got switched and after some frantic planning we found a way to do both events.”
FANS can order their live stream from sportcentral.tv and the meeting programme, with 56-pages, is available from curtis-sport.com for £5.
