BIRMINGHAM Speedway are offering local football supporters a chance to get an alternative sporting fix before the forthcoming season kicks off.

The club have set a special £10 admission offer for their home clash with Somerset at Perry Barr next Wednesday (July 24, 7.30) for Aston Villa, Birmingham City, West Bromwich Albion, Walsall, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Solihull Moors season ticket holders.

All supporters will need to do is show their 2018/19 or 2019/20 season ticket to the admissions staff and they will gain entry for the clash against the Rebels at a reduced rate.

Club co-owner David Mason said: “We know football is massive in the West Midlands and we know what it means to people in the local area.

“I know there are friendlies going on left, right and centre at the minute but we wanted to offer local football supporters the chance to get a slightly different sporting fix before the new season properly gets underway in the next couple of weeks.

“Live Speedway is absolutely breathtaking at its best and we’ve had plenty of good feedback from newcomers who’ve given it a try for the first time this season.

“The school holidays are now almost upon us too so we also hope to see plenty of families taking advantage of our Kids 11 and Under go Free offer over the next six weeks when we’re at home.”

Meanwhile, club bosses are working hard behind the scenes to piece together a team for Friday’s scheduled trip to Redcar, with No.1 Adam Ellis the latest rider ruled out after sustaining a broken collarbone on Wednesday.

We will update supporters with any team news as soon as we have it.
