BRUMMIES BATTLE WITH BEARS

Tuesday July 16, 2019
BIRMINGHAM return to Perry Barr on Wednesday where they face a revitalised Redcar side (7.30).

The Edwards Plumbing Brummies have lost their last three meetings but will be looking to get back on track in front of their home supporters where they have won four of their last five.

Redcar have sprung into life of late though and have been boosted since making a triple change to their line-up.

They are now led by former two-time World Longtrack Champion Erik Riss, while Kasper Andersen has also been among the points with Tom Woolley getting laps under his belt at reserve.

The Bears have been dealt a blow in the build-up though with in-form skipper Charles Wright ruled out – Australian racer Jake Allen will stand in on Wednesday.

As for Birmingham, club No.1 Adam Ellis returns to the line-up with fellow heat-leaders Tero Aarnio and Ashley Morris still sidelined through injury.

British Finalist Danny Ayres comes in with rider replacement operating for Aarnio.

Team manager Laurence Rogers said: “It goes without saying that it’s been a frustrating few weeks with some of the results and the injuries we’ve again had in the team.

“But the show must go on as they say and the boys are in the mood to get back on the winning trail on Wednesday.

“Redcar have picked up some impressive results lately but if we can ride how we have been at home lately, then there’s no reason why we can’t add three more points to our tally.

“Danny Ayres is in some really great form himself right now, he likes the Birmingham track and he’ll be key to our chances for sure.”

The team pits will be open for supporters to get up close to the riders and their machines between 6.30 and 6.50.

Meanwhile recent recruit Nick Agertoft will be available for autographs and pictures in the lower grandstand bar between 6.40 and 6.50.

Supporters will again be able to take advantage of the Perry Barr Centre Green Experience. Up to 25 supporters will have the chance to watch three races from the infield.

Tickets to watch Heats 12-14 will be on sale upon entry to the stadium for just £3 per person and will be sold on a first come, first served basis.

The main event will be followed by Midland and Southern Development League action between Milton Keynes Knights and Carmarthen Dragons.

The club will also be announcing details of a special offer for the Championship clash against Somerset at Perry Barr on Wednesday, July 24 during the interval.
