BIRMINGHAM have been forced to cancel Wednesday’s scheduled home cup clash with Eastbourne.

Brummies Co-owner David Mason explained: “We received an e-mail from stadium manager Martin Fennings late on Monday afternoon informing us of a power outage at Perry Barr last week.

“They’ve had engineers looking at the problem but they are still yet to find the source and reckon the problem could be below ground.

“The main issue from our point of view is that it means there is currently no electricity to the infield and pits area which is obviously essential to us to run a speedway meeting.

“While the matter is still being looked at, they cannot guarantee that the issue will be fixed and have told us that we will regretfully have to cancel this week’s meeting with Eastbourne.

“It’s far from ideal and we can only apologise - but it’s totally out of our hands on this occasion unfortunately. We will be back racing a week on Wednesday (May 22) against Edinburgh to kick start our season.”

Provisionally Eastbourne have agreed to return for the second leg of their Knockout Cup tie on Wednesday, May 29 (7.30) (TBC).
