BIRMINGHAM hand debuts to Adam Ellis and Nathan Stoneman in Wednesday’s home league opener against Berwick at Perry Barr (7.30).

The duo have been snapped up by the Edwards Plumbing Brummies as they aim to turn their season around following seven straight defeats in all competitions.

But Ellis, who won the National League with the club in 2015, is excited to be back and admits he’d love to help the side earn their first win of the season at the first attempt.

“There’s certainly some potential in the team to win meetings and hopefully I can come in and do a job at No.1,” Ellis said.

“I’ve got a good connection with the supporters, I ride Birmingham well and it already feels good to be back.

“I’ve got some really good memories of my time there and hopefully I can make some more there this time around.”

Ellis goes straight in at No.1 for Brummies, while Stoneman starts at reserve with captain James Shanes elevated into the main body.

Berwick include British Youth Champion Leon Flint at reserve who came on leaps and bounds with Birmingham last season in his first full campaign.

Kevin Doolan, who shares the joint Perry Barr track record, also lines-up for the Bandits with former Cradley favourite Danny Ayres standing in for the injured Coty Garcia.

Turnstiles open at 6.15 and Adam Ellis will be available for autographs in the lower grandstand bar between 6.40 and 6.50.

The main event will be followed by Midland and Southern Development League action as the Birmingham Ductair Electrics Bulls take on Carmarthen.
