BIRMINGHAM make a quick return to Eastbourne on Good Friday (3pm) for the first leg of their Knockout Cup tie.

Edwards Plumbing Brummies went down 52-38 in the Championship Shield at Arlington just under a fortnight ago, but kept their opponents on their toes for the majority of the meeting.

And despite Eastbourne’s strength at home, where they have racked up the biggest win of the British Speedway season so far, team boss Laurence Rogers insists his side are far from fazed by the challenge.

“We did really well when we down there the other week and the scoreline didn’t reflect how tight the meeting actually was,” Rogers said.

“The boys will have learnt a fair few things from that visit and they’ll put it into practice on Friday.

“Of course with it being the Knockout Cup it’s the old cliché of keeping it as close as we can and hopefully we’ll be in a strong position ahead of the second leg at Perry Barr next month.”

Zach Wajtknecht and skipper James Shanes will line-up for Birmingham despite Premiership side Swindon being in action on the same day as the Championship takes priority on a Friday.

Eastbourne have warned travelling supporters to take cash with them for admission purposes following a recent problem with the local 4G transmitter which has affected card payments.

EASTBOURNE: Edward Kennett, Ben Morley, Alfie Bowtell, Lewis Kerr, Richard Lawson, Georgie Wood, Tom Brennan.

BIRMINGHAM: Ulrich Ostergaard, Tobias Thomsen, Kyle Newman, Ashley Morris, Zach Wajtknecht, Paco Castagna, James Shanes.
